Morning sun is tolerable and will help to intensify the leaf colors, but hot afternoon sun is usually deadly to hostas. They are most at home in shady, woodland settings. Prefers moist, organic soils. Easy to grow and very adaptable.

    • I saw 'Silly String's' blossoms at a distance, and thought that they were more pretty than most. I went over for a closer view, and oh my goodness! The beautiful stems! A lovely, unusual dusty purple. Wow! I thought the foliage was nice - but nothing to get excited about...until I got them home and planted them in a shady bed with 'Coast to Coast' & 'Autumn Frost' hostas and dark Hellebore foliage. Now it's the foliage that steals the show and just "completes" (hah! really? Is a bed ever really complete?) the bed beautifully. I am very happy with this plant and very highly recommend - it's gorgeous...try to find a spot for it - you won't be sorry. My only somewhat negative concern: it might not flower as well next year, being in full shade, but I can live with that, considering it's other stellar qualities.
