Maintenance Notes:Needs free draining soil. Any sogginess could result in root rot, especially in winter.

Fun Facts:Caryopteris is also known as bluebeard or blue mist spirea - but it's not a spirea at all. In fact, they're not even remotely related.

I bought two of these fairly late last year. They looked great when they arrived and I was surprised at how quickly they grew. I had lovely, long-lasting flowers and the pollinators adored them. I was really looking forward to them coming up and producing again this year, but so far, not one leaf has made an appearance (Zone 7) and it looks like they were a complete waste of money. I see no life on what is left of the plants and suspect our extreme Christmas cold got them. While I loved them, I do not think I would buy these again if they are not a true perennial in my area. Disappointed.

AMAZING for ARIZONA! I bought and planted 8xquart size Beyond Pink'd in April (as soon as they were available) in full sun surrounded by gravel. If you live in AZ you know by April it's already extremely hot with temps in the low 90s. These have done great, especially for their first year. I have them on irrigation and have supplemented a little water through the summer when temps are above 105. In our clay soil, they do need a little extra iron and compost/mulch to prevent minimal scorching above ~110. It's September and these beauties are starting to flower and are about 2 feet wide and 18'' tall. I can't wait to see how they do next year.
